In addition to our
regular activities, Newcomers also organizes and sponsors many special
events. Here are a few of the events:
- Theme Coffee Mornings. These informal coffee
mornings usually take place in a volunteer's home. A guest speaker is
invited to share his or her knowledge or craft with the group. Past
themes have included aromatherapy, cake decorating, and holistic
medicine.
- Day Trips. Newcomers offer various day trips
throughout the year. Many islands are easy reachable for a day outing,
and each winter there is a museum tour of Athens.
- Special Lunches. On some holidays and
special occasions, the monthly meeting is held at a local restaurant
or taverna.
- Holiday Bazaar. Each December Newcomers
sponsors a holiday bazaar where people can come to buy or sell all
kinds of gifts
- Evening Get-Together. Occasionally Newcomers
hosts an evening social for our members and their spouses.
- Vacations. Each year there is usually a 4 or 7
day holiday organized by Newcomers. Past trips have included
Morocco, Marakesh and Egypt.
